Answer three questions to estimate your expected FoxIDs price and compare available options.

  1. Users
  2. Auth & tokens
  3. Environments
  4. Result

User Count

FoxIDs can store internal users (authenticated in FoxIDs) and external users provisioned from or connected to external identity providers.

The user count is the total number of stored user records.

  • External identities do not create stored users unless selected.
  • You can choose to store internal users, external users, or both.
  • Internal and external users can be linked.
  • Each stored record counts as one user.

Examples:

  • Authenticate with an external identity where the external user is not stored counts as zero users.
  • One internal user loaded from an external identity where the external user is not stored counts as one user.
  • One internal user linked to three stored external users counts as four users.

Authentication and Token Request Count

Authentications are counted each time FoxIDs verifies a user's identity. If you use multiple environments connected with environment links, authentications are counted separately in each environment.

Token requests are counted when an application requests tokens from FoxIDs using OpenID Connect or OAuth 2.0. This applies both after a new authentication and when using an existing session. Token requests are also counted when a backend application or daemon authenticates using OAuth 2.0 to obtain a token, and in token exchange scenarios where a backend service exchanges one token for another.

Environment Count

Environments let you separate identity configurations, such as development, test, and production, or isolate customers.

Each environment acts as its own Identity Provider with a dedicated user store.

Each environment has independent configuration, certificates, and log settings. You can also use environments to separate connections to external identity providers, in some cases a dedicated certificate or higher log level is required.

Connections to external identity providers and other identity configurations can be reused across applications in different environments, allowing you to build identity setups as modular building blocks.

Special for self-hosted: only production environments are counted.
